Artist's Description

Origionally painted life size, this is a typical Moroccan woman carrying a jar of water from the local well which is a daily chore for those who live in the countryside and spend many hours fetching water. This painting is done in yellows and red on a brown-black background playing with the light source.

Patricia Rachidi

I have been painting on everything and in all medias for over 30 years. I began as a porcelain artist and spent time in the Orient absorbing ancient techniques which I passed on to my students. My escapades around the world teaching inspired me to paint on wood, fabric, glass and to do origional sculptures in red clay and porcelain. Collages in wood, paper and glass are a specialty of mine. I spent 20 years as a designer/manufacturer of costume jewelry in the U.S. but now am retired and have my studio where I have been teaching painting to adults and gifted children of all ages.
